My
Pansat receiver keeps re-booting, or has "NightRider" display. How
can I fix?
GTools is always been touchy but recently it really caused a problem
with Pansats and Pantecs. So here's what happend and here's how to
fix if it happens.
Problem:
Many times moving/editing entries in gTools causes a problem when
the file is saved AND downloaded into the Pansat. After downloading
it, the Pansat goes nightrider, then to a “0”. Then it cycles all
over again.
You can’t gain access to the main MENU so that you can delete the
file list since the Pansat is hung in this loop as described above.
Fix:
As
strange as this may sound: remove the coax lead coming from the dish
to the back of the receiver. Yes, that's right remove the input coax
lead. Then turn of the box off from the back switch, wait 5 secs or
so, then turn it on.
The Pansat receiver did boot and finally display “0001” as the
channel. Now you can gain access to the main MENU: select FACTORY
SETTING, click “OK” to delete the program. But you are not done yet.
The Pansat will still not accept a ‘good’ channel list since a
portion of the boot program has been corrupted. You have to re-flash
with the orginal manufacture factory flash , then flash to the most
current version (today it's '235c') and finally load a 'good'
channel list.
To
fix this do the following:
-
Turn it off
via back switch
-
Get the Pansat
loader
-
Select for the
BIN file: Pansat Factory file named Pansat
2500A_040730_api(N).bin,
-
Turn on the
Pansat from the back switch; immediately after, click “OK” to
start the download. You MAY have to do this a few times to “catch”
the cycle properly, but it will reload the factory flash. Do NOT
disturb this process until the receiver reboots and displays “ON”.
-
Once you see
“ON”, use the Pansat loader to flash the current flash, such
“235c”. Both work well. Again do not disturb until the receiver
reboots and says “ON”.
-
Now load a
good version of gTools file list or do a SATELLITE SCAN.
-
Reconnect the
coax to the Pansat's input connector.
